Mexico. – The Mexico aerospace industry could become the main supplier of this market in Latin America, outing Brazil. Exports of this industry will grow 20% this year compared to 2011, reaching five million dollars, and its estimated to make it between 20-25% per year until 2020, said Manuel Sandoval, CEO Prospective Analysis and Innovation from ProMéxico.

 

He added that Mexico meets international demand to reduce costs and increase competitiveness of the aerospace industry, while the developed supply chain and advanced manufacturing, particularly in the automotive, electronic and medical devices enabled the country's rapid rise in the industry.

Sandoval also stated that this industry has become strategic for the national economy and compared the growth in Mexico over the past seven years with the one Brazil has ever had.

He explained that in 2011, Mexican exports in this category amounted to 4.377 billion USD, ie 25% more than in 2010. While Brazil reached 12 billion dollars in the last year in exports, although it has developed in over 40 years and also has Embraer, a globally recognized company within the aerospace industry.

 

Sandoval said he did not rule out the possibility that in some years there is a company in Mexico with the same importance and that was just as iconic and recognized that, although come to produce a plane "would be late and not the best strategy," can create added value to the country with the manufacture of parts or components of national brands.

As part of the strategy to stimulate this industry, the Ministry of Economy prepared the ProAero Program which has as one of their goals put the country in 2020 as a major aerospace manufacturer in Latin America, by developing suppliers and training of engineers, specialized technicians and skilled workers that can support that growth.
