Well-known for being the only offshore port in the country, the Port of Progreso has a 4.11 mile-long pier and a 4.68 mile-long shipping channel, 492 feet wide and 42 feet deep. Línea Peninsular, with a regular service two times a week connecting Progreso with the Port of Panama City, FL, as well as a weekly service to/from Houston, Texas and the Hapag Lloyd, where, through an agreement with shippers Hanjin Shipping, Hapag Lloyd and CMA-CMG respectively, freight is moved to/from the entire world.
Hamburg Süd connects Progreso with port of the Caribbean and Central America, as well as to/from Asia, Europe and South America. Melfi Marine Corp. also connects Progreso with Gulf ports, the Caribbean and the European Mediterranean, through the port of Havana, Cuba.
